A Moody Winter Flight over Lake Superior and the Champion Mill Ruins
Every season in Michigan offers the chance to experience something new, even at our familiar haunts. Lake Superior's curious pancake ice, the frozen Freda cliffs, and the downy ruins gave us something new to explore for an afternoon in the quiet of the Champion Mill ruins. Little Charity Island
Little Charity's waters are shallow and rocky, and not suited for travel to the island. Those who traverse these waters know that the island is primarily home to the waterfowl that hunt the depths of Saginaw Bay. From a lofty height, watch the interplay of nature here on this tiny rock on one hot, summer's day.

Point Lookout
We've seen some recent press from Reader's Digest about some of the most "Gorgeous Peninsulas in the United States", and of course, our beloved Keweenaw made the list... but we couldn't help be show some love for one of our personal favorite Peninsulas! Point Lookout is a small neighborhood within the larger community of Au Gres, Michigan, and I (Amanda) am proud to claim this beautiful little point of land as my childhood home! Over 7,000 days of my life at the end of Point Lookout have been shaped by the glorious summers swimming Bayside, hearing the bubbling commotion of the summer community, the peaceful, colorful grace of fall, and the overpowering winters that literally pushes frozen Lake Huron onto our lawns. We are lucky to share this little point with our daughter, and share in some of that magic that the old houses and sunken history off the breakwall hold for us. Stay tuned for some more sweet lighthouse and island content! 🎼 Custom music by Jollygood of Marquette, MI #pointlookout #lakehuron #dji #djimavicair2 #air2 #drone #dronevideography #dronevideo #aerialvideo #aerialvideography

Big Charity Island
Sailors on the Saginaw Bay have been finding reprieve on Big Charity for thousands of years... Maps dating to the 1600s denote the island as Shawangunk, a Lenape word meaning "in the smoky air". Anyone who has spent time in this little section of the Bay can attest to the "smokiness" or haze on the distant horizons of Lake Huron come summertime. Nowadays, modern lake travelers can still come enjoy the crystal clear waters off this island, and even rent a cabin on the island! Gravelly Shoals Lighthouse
About two and half miles off the end of Point Lookout, straight as the gull flies, is the Gravelly Shoals Lighthouse. In 1939, this beauty was built in the straits between the Point and the Charity Islands. Her Art Deco style (probably fading out of vogue at that time period) makes her stand out against other historic Michigan lighthouses. Her solitary guard hasn't waivered since, as she remains an automated lighthouse guiding boat and freighter traffic in Saginaw Bay. While it might be considered a lonely life out in the lake by yourself, the Gravelly Shoals Light has been far from alone. Generations of locals, vacationers, leisure boaters, and commercial freight crews have kept their ears and eyes on her. And sometimes, their feet! If but for a brief moment, jumping off the lighthouse has served as an annual right of summer passage for respectful swimmers. Her clarion call can be heard from the shores of Point Lookout, a sound that crosses time and distance to bind anyone that has the pleasure of growing up there or visiting! #lakehuron #pointlookout #charityisland #puremichigan #dji #djimavicair2 #air2 #drone #dronevideo #dronevideography #aerialvideo

Fall Colors Ignite in the Far North
The trees surrounding Weber Lake in Toivola, Michigan reached their peak in late September in the Fall of 2020. A truly awe-inspiring flight... I had scoped out this location for several weeks as we did late season swimming thanks to the delightfully warm weather.
